A hardtop gazebo is a big purchase, and the three Sunjoy models we keep coming back to solve different problems. Here’s how they compare side by side, and who each one is really for.
The quick answer
- Best for a small patio or a first gazebo: Classic Cedar 11×11 — the lowest price of the three and real cedar, but the smallest footprint.
- Best low-maintenance pick: Aluminum 11×13 — rust-resistant aluminum, netting included, and a lot more room for a small price step up.
- Best for a full outdoor living room: Stanwood 13×15 — fits a sofa set and coffee table, with netting and built-in solar lighting.

Classic Cedar Hardtop Gazebo 11×11

The warm look of natural cedar with a steel roof that won’t need re-shingling. Inside, the posts are 9.1 ft apart, which fits a bistro set or four chairs around a fire table, but not a full sectional. Sunjoy says most people can assemble it in a few hours, and there are built-in rails if you want to add curtains or netting later.
- Good for: smaller patios and decks, anyone who wants real wood on a budget.
- Think twice if: you want to fit a sofa set, or don’t want to keep up wood over the years.
Metal Gazebo with Aluminum Frame 11×13

For about $125 more than the cedar, you get roughly 25% more usable floor space (11.3 × 9.3 ft) and an aluminum frame that won’t rot or rust. Mesh netting comes in the box, which matters for summer evenings. The matte-black finish suits modern houses.
- Good for: low-maintenance owners, modern exteriors, buggy summers.
- Think twice if: you want a warm wood look — or you need privacy curtains, which aren’t included.
Stanwood Solar Lighting Dual-Roof Gazebo 13×15

The biggest of the three by far, with 14.1 × 12.2 ft between the posts — room for a full outdoor sofa, chairs and a coffee table. Solar LED lights are built into the posts and run from a remote, so there’s no wiring to plan, and full mosquito netting is included. Sunjoy lists a 50 mph wind rating. At 471 lb it’s a serious build; a paid assembly service is offered.
- Good for: making the backyard a true outdoor living room you use after dark.
- Think twice if: your patio is under about 15 × 13 ft, or you’d rather spend under $1,500.
Before you order
- Measure the patio and leave walking room around the base — the roof overhangs the posts.
- Check your HOA and local permit rules for permanent outdoor structures.
- Plan how you’ll anchor it (deck, concrete or ground) before delivery day.
- Large items usually arrive curbside, so line up help to move the boxes.
